About Dee
Hailing from Central and Northern NJ after over 3 decades of pouring his musical heart into Classsic Rock, Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Psychedelic, Progressive, Bluegrass, Country, and Jam Band genres (and all things in between) at venues on both coasts, in 2015 Dee Scott made the permanent trek to San Diego, always looking forward to the next gig without a glance in the rear view mirror. Whether it’s been his involvement in writing and performing lyrics and music in original jamband projects (Akidis, The Abajo, and more recently with the Flat Mars Society Band), or laying down the deep grooves in cover/tribute bands (like that of JDarks’ Workingman’s Dead in NJ and Travel Agents in San Diego), Dee’s melodic five and six string bass guitar grooves are ever present, in the pocket, and always ready for the next trip down the winding sonic road to wherever it may lead. Dee is an accomplished lead and backup vocalist, and is also a well known audio engineer, live music archivist, and is a guru of all things related to computer technology by day. A true jack of all trades and a master of many. (at least in his mind!) While Dee’s musical journey arguably might have started with the Lowrey Organ his parents bought in the 70’s, it wasn’t until he picked up the bass guitar in high school, influenced by bassists like John Paul Jones, John Entwistle, Jack Bruce, Jack Casady, Geddy Lee, Phil Lesh, and so many others! When the fog lifts, (or when he is not engulfed from the band’s smoke machine) his musicality shines bright. Dee got dialed into the Grateful Dead scene in college like so many, and he caught the jamband fever that persists to this day and informs his every note with a level of passion, nuance, drive, and sensitivity that keeps the bus truckin’ down the highway with the pedal to the metal.
